YABLOKO leaders Sergei Mitrokhin and Grigory Yavlinsky spoke at the rally For Fair Elections which took place at the Pushkin square, Moscow.
Sergei Mitrokhin said that statements made by Vladimir Churov, head of the Central Electoral Commission, that elections was fair was a blatant lie. The hot line organised jointly by YABLOKO and the Voter’ League got thousands of calls from observers and voters on violations.
Mitrokhin also reiterated that the December slogan “Churov should go!” emerging after parliamentary elections of December 2011 was still on the agenda. The participants had unanimously chanted this slogan together with Mitrokhin.
Mitrokhin also expressed his certainly that Putin won in an unfair game. “This fight was not honest, it was cowardice and meanness. And it was not only carousels and stuffing of ballots which brought him victory. Putin won ousting the only candidate – Grigory Yavlinsky – who had no fear of [severely criticizing him] at the [mass-scale rallies] at Bolotnaya and Sakharov square,” Mitrokhin said.
“Shame!” Mitrokhin said and this word was chanted by the participants of the rally.
Mitrokhin expressed his certainty that Putin had challenged the opposition in his speech at the pro-Putin rally at Manezhnaya square.
Grigory Yavlinsky in his short speech tried to answer the question what should be done further.
“First of all we should form an alternative. Politics begins when those who are against the system and the regime get a real fully-fledged alternative,” he noted.
“This means that we have our leaders, our programme and we have a political, economic and, which is most important, moral alternative,” he added.
“We will form this alternative and we will create it. We will make them conduct new elections and we will win those elections,” Yavlinsky said.
