The Russian United Democratic Party YABLOKO thinks that the murder of Anna Politkovskaya has a political nature behind it.

The leadership of the country allowing the murdering of its political opponents is directly responsible for this.

Anna’s journalism was acts rather than words.

She was hated, and this was even stated openly without any remorse, for her publishing evidences of crimes made by the authorities and on behalf of the authorities.

Her desire to be in conflict zones so that to interfere, help and tell the truth about this met active counteraction.

She was not allowed to come to Beslan in September 2004. We don’t know yet where they have prevented her from going now. And she will never be able to tell us already.

The YABLOKO party expresses its deep condolences to Anna’s relatives, next of kin and her colleagues.
